MELTA 2012

The fellows are once again preparing to present at the Malaysian English Language Teachers Association conference. There will be two conferences this year - one in Kuala Lumpur at the end of May, and one in Kuching in early June.

Peter Wickham is involved in continuing research into libraries in Malaysian primary schools along with colleague Zaliah.
The questionnaire associated with their research can be found on this page (please click on the link), and if you are involved with a Malaysian primary school and are willing to help by completing the survey it would be much appreciated.

The abstract (already accepted by MELTA) for his paper presentation is below:
Ruth Wickham is preparing for a workshop presentation along with colleague Azlinda. They are researching how to increase motivation of Malaysian children to read (in English) by discovering what they are interested in. They are using a survey and then will interview selected children in the Teaching School (connected to IPGKDR)I. Following this research, the plan is to produce some small storybooks, test them on the children concerned, and then present a workshop to enable Malaysian teachers to follow the same path with their students.

The abstract (not yet accepted by MELTA) is below:

If you are involved in Malaysian primary school education
and have a particular interest in either of these projects,
you can use the contact form below.
