Teaching Reading
The pages in this section are a 'work in progress' and many of them are only partially completed. Nevertheless, there are materials here that you may find useful in your own work, so feel free to use them. Usually there are some JPEG slides so that the material is clearly visible, followed by a PowerPoint presentation which can be downloaded and used as is or altered. Then there is a Scribd document which you can read right here on the site, followed by a downloadable version of the same document.
Letters and Sounds
This is material from the British Department for Education about teaching phonics and reading to young learners. There are a series of FREE downloadable units, full of information and practical pedagogy.
It is delivered in six "phases", but this is not year 1-6, each "phase" is only a few weeks.

Phonemic Chart
The Phonemic Chart available on this site is very simple and clear, with an example key word for each symbol, and can be used as a keyboard. Clicking on any of the symbols copies it into the box, and then you can copy and paste this into any document where you need it.
Flash cards are available as a downloadable file, and there is an option to practice the sounds right there on the website.
